What is BJJ?

Brazilian Jiujitsu is a Martial Art which served primarily as a self defence system on the streets of Brazil. It is a Grappling Martial Art. (Example: Like Wrestling,Judo,Sambo,Etc) Brazilian Jiujitsu has it’s roots from Japanese Jujitsu and Judo. It was brought to Brazil by Mitsuyo Maeda in the early 20th Century and further developed by the Gracie family over the years up to the present day. Today, Brazilian Jiujitsu (BJJ) is used widely in competitive sports like MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), in Submission Grappling and Submission wrestling competitions. It is used by the United States Army for unarmed combat training.

BJJ is for everyone. Men, women, children of all ages can start their journey in this amazing Martial art. It is absolutely essential to know for people looking to learn a discipline of Self Defence which could one day help the individual safeguard self or a loved one from physical peril.

Our objective for training Brazilian Jiujitsu is two fold:

1. Brazilian Jiujitsu for Sport

Brazilian Jiujitsu as we know it today is practiced primarily as a sport in India and Worldwide. Our focus is training for Competition with the Gi (Kimono) and No-Gi Jiujitsu. Our primary mission is to spread the values of BJJ through training for Competition Nationally and Internationally in Brazilian Jiujitsu Tournaments.

2. Brazilian Jiujitsu for Self Defence

BJJ started and was taught as a self defence system to students by The Gracie Family in Brazil. Our focus is on self defence as well. Age is not a limit to train in BJJ. People of all ages can begin their BJJ Journey. BJJ is suitable for women and children. Though our focus is primarily set on BJJ for competing, we welcome people from all walks of life to train BJJ with us recreationally. Anyone regardless of athletic ability, size, gender, strength, etc can begin learning Jiu-jitsu and start their Brazilian Jiujitsu journey with Us.
